About

Aloha friends, I’m Mike—a 49-year-old husband, father, and retired restaurant owner based in Honolulu, Hawaii.

A few years ago, I took a leap, walked away from my career, and followed a lifelong passion for sailing. I earned my captain’s license and soon found myself working aboard a million-dollar catamaran. Several years later, I found my dream boat… or maybe she found me. Today, I’m the proud steward of the legendary trimaran Free Spirit

My mission is to engage the community through free sailing experiences that foster the connection to watersheds, the ocean & Hawaii’s nautical heritage.

We’re re-launching the legendary Free Spirit in Honolulu, Hawaii. After two decades of unforgettable sunsets, open-ocean adventures, and tight-knit community, the 50 foot trimaran Free Spirit (primary vessel of the Free Spirit Sailing Club) is hoisting sail once again. The iconic club ran for 20 years, offering a rare blend of sailing culture, camaraderie, and access to Hawaii’s unmatched waters.

Now, with the wind back in our sails, Free Spirit is ready to welcome a new generation of ocean lovers. Whether you’re here for the thrill of speed on a fast multihull, the serenity of a Waikiki sunset , or simply to reconnect with the spirit of adventure, the boat is back—and better than ever. Anchored in tradition, but charting a bold new course.
